30 day challenge to learn Spanish

I've been learning Spanish on and off for the past 10 years but have rarely dedicated enough time to it to become fluent or even to understand anything beyond the slowest conversations.

After watching some YouTube videos of polyglots and language enthusiasts, I've decided to dedicate a month to trying to learn to speak and understand Spanish to a level of fluency that would then allow me to feel confident to speak Spanish people comfortably in order to develop fluency.

To do so I'm trying out some language learning hacks. I'm experimenting speaking as soon as possible and learning by osmosis rather than reading a text book.

First, I will learn phrases (not individual words) with Anki that I come across which I find useful for everyday conversation.

Second, I will watch Spanish YouTube videos with Spanish transcription, translate them and then rewatch until I understand the sounds better. It will also serve as the main basis for mining sentences to put into Anki.

Finally, I want to speak as much as possible so I'm using Tandem (a language exchange app) and perhaps some other speaking opportunities (e.g. meetups) to make sure I do speak.

See you again for an update in a month's time.
