Fixing my emails

A few months ago I trimmed my email subscriptions, I used a tool to filter my emails and send me an auto-digest but then the sub list grew again, I stopped reading the digests and I feel like I'm back at square one. I barely check non-essential emails anymore and I hate the email clutter.

I want to read more newsletters though and to keep my inbox tidy so I'm trying a different approach.

I moved my newsletters from emails to an RSS feed - I'm using feedbin but there's loads of app options - so I have a dedicated space to go to browse the latest posts and read.

I also started putting in place my own filters on Gmail using aliases so, for example, youremail+work@gmail.com, would all be filtered to a 'work' label and skips the inbox. Then when signing up for anything I have to use an alias so my inbox does not get cluttered.

So far it's good. I actually read the newsletters and I have fewer emails to screen in my inbox.
